1. Kuto Besak Fort



Kuto Besak Fort is one of the historical relics of the past which is located in the city of Palembang, South Sumatra. The location of the Kuto Besak Fort is on the banks of the Musi River, precisely on Jalan Sultan Mahmud Badarudin, 19 Ilir, Bukit Kecil, Palembang City. This fort has a size of 288.75 meters x 183.75 meters, and a wall thickness of 1.99 meters. Kuto Besak Fort is a fort built by natives and not by the Dutch colonial. This building is a symbol of the supremacy of the Palembang Darussalam Sultanate. Initially Kuto Besak Fort was built by Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin I who ruled the Palembang Darussalam Sultanate in 1724-1758. However, the construction of this fort was not finished when Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin I died. Then, the construction of the fort was continued by Sultan Mahmud Bahaudin who ruled the Sultanate of Palembang in the period 1776-1803. It was during the reign of Sultan Mahmud Bahaudin that the construction of the fort was completed, and was followed by the transfer of the center of the kingdom from Kuto Lamo to Kuto Besak. 9.14 meters, 2.13 meters thick, and four bastions or selekoh in the corners. There are three gates in this fort, namely on the northeast side, northwest, and the main gate on the southeast side. In the Kuto Besak Fort complex, there is a large courtyard, the Great Hall, and several rooms such as the royal palace, paseban, living room, to the residence of the sultan and the empress.

2. Belido Fish Statue


The Belido Fish Statue is one of the icons of Palembang City on the banks of the Musi Plasa River, Kuto Besak Fort. The monument, which is shaped like a Belido Fish, was inaugurated by the Mayor of Palembang, Harnojoyo together with the President Director of PT Bukit Asam, Arviyan Arifin, on February 11, 2018 The Belido Fish Monument is located in the Kuto Besak Fort area of ​​Palembang, to be precise in the 19 Ilir area, Bukit Kecil, Palembang City. The construction of this monument is also a form of gratitude for the Palembang City Government, because with the existence of belido fish habitat, the economic level of the Palembang people can increase. 3. Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Museum



The Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin (SMB) II Museum, which is located on Jalan Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II, is the only museum belonging to the Palembang City Government that describes the history of the customs of the wong (people) of Palembang. The magnificent building measuring 32 meters long, 22 meters wide and about 17 meters high, has a European architecture built by the Dutch colonials starting in 1823 and completed in 1825. Over time and the historical dynamics that occurred in the city of Palembang, the function of this building has changed, starting from the Japanese headquarters during the occupation, Teritorium II Kodam Sriwijaya at the beginning of independence. The management of SMB II also turned to the Palembang City Government to become a museum. For operations, the SMB II Museum is open every day, with operating hours Monday starting at 13.00-15.00 WIB, then Tuesday-Friday at 08.00-16.00 WIB, and Saturday-Sunday at 09.00-15.00 WIB. The building next to the SMB II Museum building is used for the Office of the Culture Service. In addition, there is also an open garden, front yard, museum parking lot, prayer room, and toilets.

4. Dermaga Convention Centre

At first, this bridge, named Bung Karno Bridge. According to historian Djohan Hanafiah, the name was given as a form of appreciation to the first President of the Republic of Indonesia. Bung Karno seriously fought for the desire of the people of Palembang, to have a bridge over the Musi River. At the time, it was the longest bridge in Southeast Asia. After the political upheaval in 1966, when the anti-Soekarno movement was very strong, the name of the bridge was changed to Jembatan Ampera (Mandate of People's Suffering).

This river is the longest river on the island of Sumatra and divides the city of Palembang into two parts, with a length of 750 km and a width of 200-300 meters. Its upstream is in Ujan Mas, Kepahyang Regency, Bengkulu and its downstream empties into the Bangka Strait. The Ampera Bridge, which is the icon of Palembang City, also crosses this river. Since the days of the Srivijaya Kingdom until now, this river has been known as the main means of transportation for the community.
